Naming convention: Placement vs Transforms

Hi, devs.

I think Placement (transforms) or Place (modifier) sound a bit weird. IMO Transforms and Transform (respectively) are more relevant on the user end. People with classic cg background will definitely like such change.

Again, the Rotation / Orientation thing is a bit confusing: a 3d layer has Orientation, Place modifier has Rotation. IMO, some sort of unification is in order on the interface side, unless it breaks your global concept, of course.

What do you think?

Well, for me orientation / rotation make sense, as I feel it, "orientation" means like a sort of immanent concept, it's one of the attribute of a node. Meanwhile "rotation" refers to a change in a state, it implies some kind of transformation to the initial node attributes. So to me it make sense ^^.

For the place modifier I don't know, once I understood it's use it does not bothered me, but transform can be nice also ^^

Agreed with skinny, we're accustomed to it now, but placement does sound a bit weird.
I'm all for "Transform" instead of placement - it is a norm (called like that in Unity, Unreal engine, and more). And for Place, why not rename it too. I'm not against it as it reflects its role better.

Indeed we should also rename rotation into orientation for consistency !

And yeah... Following this concept Reframe should become Transform too. What do you think?

I don't know why but calling the placement of a 2D layer "transform" feels weird to me...
Perhaps its because of french, and the fact that I'm not used to seeing it used in 2D applications.

IMO there's a bit of misunderstanding about Reframe and 2D Placement mask:

Reframe:
In fact, similar effects in 2d apps are usually called Corner Pin (AE) or Free Transform (PS).
2D Placement mask:
Same as Reframe but it's a mask + it has a rotation control.

Don't you think those two should be called similarly? Because as it stays now, there's a great deal of confusion for the end user. I suggest unifying the names, but still, I'm not sure about the new name...
