Hi y'all. I'm trying to run Smode on my Mac Pro (Late 2013) using Parallels V12 (Windows 10). When starting up the Studio or Synth software, I instantly get the following error. "Initial mirroring of engine and data - Rendering has exited prematurely - Error: Cannot initialize GL context." Does anybody got some tips on how to get the software running in OSX? (The Alpha MAC version runs in OSX but crashes too frequently.)
Thanks! P
Hello,
What's your graphics card? Apparently, it tries to boot on a graphics card that does not support (modern enough) OpenGL...
Hi Francis,
2x Internal AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB1x eGpu Nvidia Geforce GTX 980Ti (Akitio Thunderbolt 3 Node)
Is your windows aware of the different cards? Are your (windows) drivers up to date?Did Smode ask which graphics card to use?
Inside directory "C:\Users\%yourusername%\AppData\Roaming\Smode Synth\logs" you should have detailed logs (I'm thinking in particular at the "rendering" log) that should give us more info on what's going wrong. Can you send the content of this log?
On thing that could also help is to force using the GTX inside the NVIDIA Control Panel (see https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/72567/can-i-force-steam-to-use-my-nvidia-gpu-instead-of-the-integrated-intel-card)
Thanks!
Thanks Francis! I've been testing for a while now and it seems to be a Windows (on mac) thunderbolt port issue. I'v found a lot of info about this issue on https://egpu.io/. But no fixes. When using Bootcamp, I don't get the error, but Windows still doesn't recognize the eGpu TB device. So I guess I'll have to wait for an update of the Smode Mac version.
Cheers!
Thanks for the update. If you have some specifc (and easy to reproduce) scenarios that fail on Mac, I'd be glad to have a look on them. We are currently stabilizing the next version, so it's a good time to do this!
Best,
